Celebrating Pride at Home
June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month and will continue to be celebrated across the country, likely with many more virtual opportunities given the circumstances we find ourselves in at this time. Due to the ongoing public health concerns regarding COVID-19 and the recent flooding in our region, the Great Lakes Bay Pride planning team has reimagined Pride Month celebrations.
In lieu of the more traditional festival and after party, they’re instead focused on Celebrating Pride at Home this year! Over the last month, the regional Great Lakes Bay Pride planning team has been working on new ideas to foster connections and build community.
This year's large events may be cancelled, but the festival and after party will return in 2021.
Schedule of Events
We're still working out all the details, but please check back soon!
The festival will be open from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. followed by the After Party in downtown Saginaw later in the evening.
CALL FOR TALENT
Last year, we featured some incredible local talent at Great Lakes Bay Pride and we want to do that again this year! If you are a local musician interested in supporting our LGBTQ+ community by performing at Pride Festival, please email us at [email protected].
Celebrating Pride at Home
Show your Pride at Home by decorating a window, porch, entryway or other area with a Pride theme.
Participants can post their photos on Facebook with #GreatLakesBayPride2020 to be entered into a random drawing at the end of June. The winner will receive a Great Lakes Bay Pride gift bag.
Congratulations Rev. Ken Hitch for winning our random drawing at the end of June!
Yard Sign Campaign*
THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our yard sign campaign this year! We successfully distributed 600 yard signs throughout Bay, Midland, Saginaw and Isabella Counties during the month of June!
We hope to offer this again in the future. Please stay tuned for more details.
Food Collection Drive*
THANK YOU to everyone who dropped off nonperishable donations to our Food Collection Drive in June! All donations benefitted Hidden Harvest and their food rescue work in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
We send a special THANK YOU to the St. John's Episcopal Church - Midland congregation for their support to make this event a success!
We collected an estimated 1,000 lbs. of food donations in just a few hours!
